You don't have to be light skin, look at Halle Berry and Tiger Woods both have medium brown complexions. And neither do you have to be really dark to be 100% Black, look at Iman and Liya Kebede who are African. Oh and what is good hair, I don't understand that? My hair is good because it's healthy, pretty and non chemically touched. There are 100% Black people that have what society considers "good hair". I have a lot friends from Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya who have tightly curled hair but it's really soft and different from west African hair. Face it the Black race is very diverse there is no extract way to look Black so don't put us in a box.

Of course, I hope you realize that the people who are making these standards are white. Some of our people are kind of ignorant on that stance too. I know what you are going through, you have described my issue too. Although I am black with columbian and indian heritage, and I have a good length and texture of hair. However because I am not high yellow, rather reddish to light, light brown skin-tone, then I am not who I say I am. It is funny though, our people perishing for the lack of knowledge. Tsk, Tsk, it disgusts me. LOL, of course white folk feel that if you are not white, you are not right. And black men seem to love high yellow or mixed women. I guess the closer to white they are, the better. I am sorry to cause such controversy, however I could not resist, telling it like it is.

All 4 of my kids are mixed and what you are saying is not true. 3 of my 4 are light skin but one is dark brown. As for the hair 2 of them have some nappy hair 2 of them got good hair. It just depends on who's genes were taking the most of.

Because when people think of mixed, they automatically think of white and black.

It's beacause they're closed-minded idiots. Hollywood only hires interracial people with fair skin. green eyes, and seriously NAPPY hair. Please don't think this is a racist statement, I'm a vlack woman of mixed origin and you would never know it unless I told you.
