It is good for them to keep him up as a back-up QB right now as while he is not their number 1 choice right now it is good to have a reserve as comfortable with the playbook as he is. Also Shanahan said that Jake will most likely be gone after this season and for good reason...he could be good with another team...but not with the Bronco offense, and as a team leader. Also his contract is still running. We will see how Mr. Jay does...interested to see if he can pull it together.

I also feel sorry for guys like Griese and Plummer who have had to take over for Elway. It is the same as what is going to happen in Green Bay when Brett leaves...they are good...but never good enough.

While Plummer will never remind anyone of Joe Montana, I think Shanahan made a mistake by going to Cutler. The Broncos are through for the year and will not make the playoffs. Will anybody argue that Denver would have beaten Seattle with Plummer at QB? Cutler looked awful, the lucky TD pass at the end notwithstanding, and make typical rookie mistakes. When a QB is brought into a game after not expecting to play, they usually do OK. However, when they have the whole week to think about it, like Cutler did, they usually play like he did.

Because they need a back-up. If Cutler really screws up or gets hurt they need somebody to come in and take over. They like 9 other teams have gone to just 2 QBS. Plummer will finish with the broncos and then go to another team im sure. And i'll be happy for him when he finds a new team. Hes too good just to sit on the bench. My family is still mad at Shanahan over this. To us by making the switch Shanahan sold out his veterans chance at making a run for the superbowl. But what can you do? We can't wait until Plummer is back out of the field playing his heart out like he always has.

Because he has a contract.

I used to have hope for Jake Plummer. However this past summer he had a traffic incident that he LIED about and tried to pin it on an INNOCENT person (unsuccessfully). Now I just think of him as Jake 'the liar' Plummer.

The Broncos have a valid hazard at prevailing the branch and making a extreme run on the super Bowl at this factor interior the season. this may well be a terrible time to make a QB substitute, fantastically to an unproven rookie, no matter how plenty ability he looks to have. Denver's probabilities of advancing interior the placed up season may well be thoroughly flushed away in the event that they began applying a rookie QB. Now if/while Denver looks like they gained't make the playoffs, then i think of we are able to make a doable argument for checking out Cutler.

Cuz they need someone to hold the clipboard and call in plays from the sideline

It probably has to do with his contract. He's definitely gone after this year. Cutler isn't exactly on fire, either.
