Certain states do not allow people to carry mace or pepper spray (like Michigan), so you'd need to find out if your state's laws allow it. If so, you should be able to buy it at any of the super-variety stores like Wal-Mart or Target or whatever. As for carrying a knife in your car, again, it depends on the laws of your state. Most states will allow you to carry a knife in your car, but many states have a limit as to the length of the blade (usually 3 inches). Anything longer than whatever length your state specifies and you can be arrested for possession of an illegal weapon, so be careful.

in many states it's illegal. pepper spray is more widely accepted and very effective. EDIT: Mace and Pepper Spray are two DIFFERENT self defense products Mace is classified as an irritant and is similar to tear gas. Pepper spray is classified as an inflammatory agent and will immediately incapacitate an assailant. Commonly, Mace has no affect on criminals under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Pepper spray will take down and cause temporary pain to those under the influence. Unlike pepper spray, Mace will NOT cause inflammation of the capillaries of the eyes and skin causing temporary blindness, nausea, breathing difficulties and an intense burning sensation. It is important to note that Mace is also a **brand name** associated with **pepper spray** products.

Just call you county sherriff's department and they will give you the run down on what is legal and what is not. Ask if mace is legal in your county. If a knife is over a certain legnth, it is considered illegal, but I don't know the exact measurement. Call a lcoal Army Surplus Store and see if they carry mace.

Get some pepper spray at any sporting goods store. As for a knife, yes you can have one in a car.
In California you can't have one with a larger than 3" blade concealed. You can have larger if it is worn in the open.
Be careful no one takes your knife away and filets you with it

i'm not sure on the weapon laws in your state- but i think it is a good idea for a woman to have a weapon ! there are a lot of freaks out there. Just make sure if you get pulled over you tell the officer you have a weapon. happy holidays!
