Did Jesus Christ not celebrate nor command his followers to celebrate his birthday because he was a Jew, too busy performing miracles as some suggest, or because he stressed the importance more on his death? -Luke 22:19, 20

He was born in September sometime because it says in the bible that during the time Jesus was born shepherds were outside tending to the flock. And if Jesus was born in December more than likely there would have not been shepherds outside being that December is a cold month. December 25 came from the celebration of the SUN god.

When Jesus was alive nobody really celebrated their birthday.

Jews at the time, Jesus was a Jew, counted their birthdays the didn't really celebrate them. Although Jews celebrate the 13th birthday for boys and 12th birthday for girls with a Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah. But that was to acknowledge the person was of the proper age for the fulfillment of the Commandments. That is to live under the rules of the Commandments. It was also the age when a person is held responsible for their actions and minimally qualified to marry. Not too far off the laws of today, if I remember right until the last year or so there was one state left that would all a girl to be married at the age of 12, I think they raised to 14.

But when Jesus was alive it was considered bad taste, if I remember right, to celebrate your birthday. It wasn't considered your day, you might give your mother a gift for giving you life, that that is as far as it went.

Christmas really come from the Catholic Church from Christ Mass or the Mass of Christ, if want you can look it up and see that the celebration was on an old pagan holiday.

I could go on and on but I'll stop now unless you have more questions, if so post and edit and I'll reply.

Hoped it helped.

Hope it helps.

History suggestes that the church changed the actual date that the early christians celebrated the bith of Christ to coincide with
the Roman celebration of Sol Invictus (The Sun God).

In this way, Christians could celebrate their beliefs and to the
Roman government it appeared that they too were paying
homage to the pagan state celebration.

It is often thought that Jesus was actually born in the summer
and that is why many say Merry Christmas in July, but this may also be because July 25th is pretty much the halfway point in the
seasonal cycle.

In either case, the Church did move the date officially and thus
it is celebrated on December 25th.

The Gospel accounts indicate that Jesus was born before the winter season:
Luke 2:8 "Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night." {Sheep were never in the field by night in Palestine after the third week of October.}

Inexplicable though it seems, the date of Christ's birth is not known. The gospels indicate neither the day, the month, nor the year. (The Catholic Encyclopedia, p.656, vol. 3, 1967.)

He was born in September, during the Feast of Tabernacles. Herod had declared that the people paid taxes, and it was commonly thought that it was during the same time as the Feast since all people had to go to thier home town to celebrate the Feast, they would pay taxes while there. That is why Joseph and Mary were in Bethlahem.

Christmas was declared to celebrate his birth to combine the Pagan holiday of the Winter Solstice with christian themes because the pagans would not stop thier wicked celebrations, so this combining of holidays made it convieneint for the religious leaders to overlook them.

I do not believe anybody knows exactly which day Jesus was born. I talking about people on earth.

Of course the People in Heaven knows what day. So, we set aside Dec. 25th. to celebrate Jesus Birthday.

Jesus Celebrates His Birthday on His Birthday. But, You know what? I believe celebrates more, when a person gives their heart to him.

i thought Jews in those days did not celebrate individual birthdays. I may be wrong but there is no way of figuring which day it was now. They used different calendars then than we do now

Some believe it to be around passover (which is why there was no room in the inn, a bunch of people came for the holiday.) That would place it around March - April.

Mormons believe it to be April 6th I've heard.
