HELP!! Whats the difference , between a 2 wire and a 4 wire alternator on a combo diesel van, the alternator ?

ok, i have purchased a 4 wire alternator, but the van is a 2 wire alternator, can i put the 4 wire one on

hi there you will not be able to run four wire alternator on your vehical unless you modify wiring i strongly suggest you exchange alternator for two wire one as it is the simplest remedy. jock

Puzzled but - Its likely that the two wire refers to a generator and the four wire to an alternator... Or do you mean three wire not two? What do you really want to know?

NOT REALLY NO. IT MAY WORK BY JUST CONNECTING ONE PHASE BUT NOT FOR LONG.
