How do any of you know that is gesture of saying Xmas instead of christmas is insulting to Christ? When was his displeasure doctmented? Did I miss the bulletin? Show me a verse or something that says this is disrespectful to Christ

You can't can you? Why is that? Probably because there is no mention of Christmas at all in the Bible, therefore how can this be viewed as some kind of insult

someone explain this to me

how is xmas taking Christ out of Christmas when the x in xmas actually means Christ

You are correct sir. I do not mean to bog down anyone's belief system with actual fact. I apologize. I should continue to subscribe to the truthiness everyone else seems to embrace.

The X in X-MAS actually is shortened version of X/P, which means Christ. So by having X-Mas it is not taking Christ out of Christmas at all.

"By the Monogram of Christ is ordinarily understood the abbreviation of Christ's name formed by combining the first two letters of the Greek form...."

"...this monogram was also known as the Chrismon. There are, however, besides this type of monogram, two other monograms of Christ -- one of His name, Jesus, the other of both His names together. "

"the X is the first letter of the name Christ in Greek and is often used as an abbreviation in eastern iconography (XS with a line over it). "

"The monogram of the name of Christ, formed of the two first letters of that name in Greek, X and P .....

Yuo have asked a really good question, as many people believe that by writing X-mas, commercialism is winning over the true reason for christmas. But it is not the case, for reasons explained above.

It is the general conception among Christians that when putting an X in Christmas and omitting the word Christ, you are leaving out the main reason for Christmas, CHRIST. His birth is the reason we are celebrating Christmas. But adding Santa,, expensive gifts, etc, is also covering up the primary "reason for the season". But a question to you, Where is is documented that X stands for Christ. I didn't see that in the bible either.

Everyone should really put into practise using the Bible to support their belief in this holiday and not personal feeling. Should Christians adopt traditions that are not scripturally supported?

When speaking to the Ephesians the Apostle Paul spoke of things unacceptable to the Lord. -Ephesians 5:10,11

Well lets see.... Have you ever actually read the bible? I don't remember anywhere in the good book where Christ is referred to as "X"... What is your aversion to using his name? Christmas is a Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Christ Jesus. What would be the letter designation for your own name? It is simple acts like the one you are describing that have removed God from a large portion of our society. What do you expect him to do if we as a society continue to remove him from our culture? Kinda scary if you ask me.

Xmas is not a word...it's an abbreviation. And I doubt that Christ gives a hoot about it.

What do you have against Jesus? I'm telling your mama!!!!!!

And how come someone is "ignorant" b/c they don't agree with you?

This isn't a true question. You already have your mind set on the answer. This is an opinion. Ask about stuff you don't know about. like women-lol!!!
