Uh, for something to float it needs to be separate from what it's floating in. A baloon will float in water because it's separate from the water, and oil (a liquid) will float in water because it can't mix with it. Diet coke is a water solution, and will thus mix with the water and not float or sink. The scientific term you're looking for is "miscible." Since both coke and diet coke are fully miscible with water they will just dissolve/mix with it, and neither float nor sink.

And regarding what's bad for you, they're both bad for slightly different reasons. Either has so much phosphates that it prevents your body from absorbing calcium, leading to bad bones and teeth. Both are really acidic, making your mouth acidic and a great place for bacteria to live in. Regular coke then also has a ton of sugar making you fat and only making it easier for bacteria to live in your mouth (cavities & bad breath) and diet coke has artificial sweetners which may or may not cause cancer.

Floating occurs because floating objects displace, or push aside, a certain amount of liquid. If an object displaces more than its weight in liquid, it floats; otherwise it sinks.

They both dissolve in water. They are both solutions in weak phosphoric acid. Otherwise, they'd be very unattractive products...
