Please do not misunderstand. I'm not offended by it at all - just curious!

I just find it strange how the people of other Christian countries chose not to use the name for their sons Jesus where it is prevelant (honorable even) in places like Mexico and Brazil.

Why therefore is it that, for example UK people, chose not to call theirs sons Jesus?

Jesús is a common name in these countries and its not like they are calling people JESUS CHRIST, our Lord and Savior, the difference is huge, do you understand that?

Perhaps you ought to be asking why more European and American children are NOT named Jesus...I imagine there are culturally popular names wherever you go, and Jesus is a popular Hispanic boys' name. I can't back this up, but I heard somewhere that "Joshua" is the anglicized version of Jesus (Yeshua? I'm no linguist!), so perhaps there ARE a lot of English/American versions of this name, only so normalized as to be unrelated at first glance to the name Jesus....

I'm Mexican, and Jesus is the name of Jesus the son of Mary and Joseph. I never realized it can be offensive or anything and yes it's a very common name among us.

There's a Protestant aversion to naming kids Jesus, and since Latin America is Catholic, that aversion isn't present. As such, naming kids after holy figures is a-okay.

Hey, in Brazil we don't speak Spanish, but Portuguese. "Jesus" name is very common among the poor, educated people don't like it because it's obviously of bad taste, no one is so important that deserves to receive the name of God, in my opinion.
