cricket is all about the phsycology of sports. A classic example is Hoggy's 4th wicket in the second test. He put 3 or 4 balls in at fast pace straight down the middle looking for the seam of the ball to get some spin. On his 5th delivery he did the opposite and went for reverse swing thus confusing the batter and getting him out. The aussies are the best at dirty tricks though, warne's deliverys with as many fielders as possible surrounding the batsmen, forcing him to make a mistake. Look out for the little dirty tricks and watch the fielders and bowlers do whatever they can to putt the batsmen off, its only a small part of the game but its what makes it so interesting for me.

It has to be the anticipation and atmosphere. In a close match when the batting team need 20 runs off 18 balls to win, or the fielding team have to bowl a few quick wickets to win .. not knowing which way it's going to go makes it all the more exciting. With batsmen like Ricky Ponting, Andrew Symonds and even Brett Lee .. smashing balls over the stands for 6 what more could you possibly ask for. Cricket is so much more than a game its a way of life.

What I love most about cricket is that although it it obviously a team game, within it you have little duels between a specific bowler and batsman. You can watch a bowler trying different things in order to force the batsman to play a specific shot that will probably get him out, or trying to dupe him so that he's expecting a certain delivery then the bowler does something else which gets him out. Despite being female and never having played it myself, I adore cricket and if I won the lottery I'd love to be able to follow England around the world. And like the previous poster's wife I love it when cricketers turn up on Strictly Come Dancing and even more so when they don't let you down! So far Bobby Dazzler and Ramps have done us lady cricket fans proud! Can we have Graham Thorpe next year please?!

Interest in any field varies from person to person. So it all depends of ones taste. While the cricket lovers like the game very much others may consider it is a waste of time watching the fame, for which nobody can be blamed.

If you are interested in "Action", go and watch wrestling. If you are interested in Agility, go and watch Gymnastics. If you are interested in watching running and pushing, go and watch American Football or Rugby. For kicking and headbutting, go and watch soccer, for plain hooliganism, go to Ice Hockey. For boredom, go watch Golf.
But if you are interested in an outdoor sports with skill and brains, go watch Cricket or Baseball. Although beauty and skillwise Cricket is way ahead, while baseball is more adapt for frequent change of tastes and variety (and sides in innings) ....
So, what is exciting in cricket? Try to think up two teams competing to build respective mountains (of runs) while at the same time trying to pull the others down (taking wickets). Follow the statistics, the athletics of fielding, the nuances of the bowling (swing, spin, cutters, bouncers, googly etc) and the beauty of batting ..... Try to follow it with your mind, then you will feel the heart join in ....
Keep watching and tracking the scores, or else just move off ....

cricket gets interesting when you are die hard fan of one of the two teams playing. Also what gets more interesting when you have your favorite players in the game. You feel so attached to their success and failures that it feels as if you are playing the game. Just watching the game to see which team wins can get boring.

I didn't like it when I first started watching BUT try listening to it on the Radio instead. In the UK Radio 4 does superb commentary which (for me anyway) bought the game to life much more than watching it on TV did.
