Brazil is absolutely beautiful, lots of natural beauty. Crime is outrageous, making it very difficult to want to live there...Great to visit,but not too good to live there, economy is horrible, overcrowding, high unemployment, and lots of poor and homeless people....but again, to visit and spend dollars converted to reais is a real treat....if you're talking about the movie, sorry, haven't seen it....want to take a sneak peek at the real Rio de Janeiro, watch the movie "City of God".
As a brazilian who has lived here over 35 years, I can tell you that, that is a very real look at the other side of town, the one tourists hardly get to see.

Up and coming industry, effective green policies, and everyone I've met from there is nice. The criminal element makes some bad press, get that under control, and it will be a really great country.
If you were speaking about the movie, I haven't seen it in a few years, but when I did I thought it was pretty smart and interesting--I liked the idea of a renegade air-conditioning repairman and a government that would care whether you used one. The dogs with bandaids to stop them from pooping were great too.

Personally I really like the culture and history.
But in my experience the Brazilian women I have met are extremely vain and think of nothing but their looks and standing out. The men I have met are varied - either they are intellectuals or jocks.
But I have never been to the country, so my viewpoint is limited.

my flip-flops were made there and are green and yellow- the color of their flag, they tell me... I know almost nothing about Brazil, so that is, literally, what I think about it... besides that it's in the Southern Hemisphere...
