If you aren't sure what gauge you were pierced at, ask a professional piercer or try to find out for yourself at:

Types of jewelry:

Generally if you had it pierced with a needle by a professional piercer it would have been done at 14g. If you had it done at Claire's or with a gun, there is probably a 18g post in there.

There really isn't specific jewelry meant only for ear cartilage piercings. Wear what is comfortable for you and what you like. Just avoid cheap/crappy jewelry and all will be well. Use a material, gauge and size most appropriate.

I don't think so. There are different gauges for any part of the ear & if you're unsure, it's a good idea to ask- either in a tattoo shop, or I like the jewelry in Hot Topic & Pacific Sunwear. I'm sure they'd be happy to help & know their stuff!

Since I got my piereced I seem to only wear studs now they flatter the ear even more. Maybe you should look in to diamond studs.
