I know how to make all these skin and body products from scratch (shower gels, lotions, body butter’s, milk bath’s, even perfume), my aunt is opening a boutique in Vegas, I’m in Orlando, but she says I should try it from home first like her and build up a clientele. What do you think? I mean I love this kind of stuff. I even work on the wkends in bath and body works because I love aromatherapy and things like that and I usually sell $500- $800 worth of merchandise on a slow day. I was thinking my stuff would be better because its all 100% natural, 100% vegan. What do you think? I mean would you be interested in purchasing something like that? Do you think I should give it a shot?

If yes, why? If no, why?

I'm not thinking about opening a boutique like right now, I was thinking more along the lines of making couple of my products and passing them around at work and see what people think. See who comes back and ask for more. Then sell from my day job, I'm an Admin. Asst. in a very large firm over 2000 employees here at the office.

I think yo should go for it. Just start small maybe give some to your co-workers to use as a gift. See who comes back for more. Do the same thing at your church or house of worship or even neighbors of you know them and your friends. Also give them like an anonymous questionairre with like 5 questions about your product on a 1-10 scale. Then see what is said.

It really depends...

Are you prepared to be sued if someone develops an irritation, blindness, poisoning, etc., from your product?

What if someone calls the Food and Drug Administration on you? Can you show how your product was made and that it's safe for human use? Will you be able to follow state and federal guidelines?

Will you be able to afford an accountant to setup the financial end of your business? Do you understand that it's better for you to make your business a separate entity from you?

Who will be your suppliers of ingredients? Containers? Labels? Packaging? Shipping? Will they accept credit? Do they accept small orders?

Where will you make your product? There are zoning laws. Find out what your communities are...

What are your plans if your business should fail?

What are your plans if your business should succeed?

Do you understand about hiring employees?

You can certainly run the risk of a cottage industry, but always bear in mind if someone sues you they can take everything you have now and in the future.

Learn about small businesses before you start.

Well as for me, I'm not all that interested in bath and body stuff. But I do know that lots and lots of people are. Just look at all the people that come into BABW stores. And with the natural and vegan products you offer I think it would be a big hit. Thats what a lot of people are switching to nowadays. As long as you can set up and promote your business well, you should do fine. Go to fairs, retail stores etc. I wish I had your talents!

I say go for it! I love the fact that your making the products all natural and that is a big thing now. If you have the funds to cover your venture and you obviously have the determination and the drive to do it, plus the love of the work, you will be successful. If you can think of a catchy name and label for your 100% natural products, it will get around. And leave samples here and there in restrooms with your contact info. people love this kind of thing! Good luck and I love your ambition! What have you got to lose?

Yeah you should try it, dont put alot of money in to it at first because if it doesnt work out you dont want to loose alot of money.

I was watching the Tyra Banks Show and a lady that sells fragance and lotion came out in the show, she started in her garage selling home made products and NOW Mary J Blidge and Will Smith's Wife buy these products!!
So if you are determined and your products are good, you can become rich and famous seller!!

You should try selling your products on line. Or setting up at a kiosk at the mall where you work and see how that goes.

Go for it just as long as you can financialy support yourself until it takes off, which i'm sure it will, cause at the begining of every huge buisness there is a long period before any profit is made.

I certainly think it is a good idea to try to sell this stuff. You may want to try E-bay. Remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Give it a shot and see what happens.
