Well, my wife's Sony Ericsson phone has a special mode that transforms the phone into a storage device when the phone is connected to the PC via USB. You can either select that option or the "normal" phone mode.

If you select it to run as a storage device, it will work exactly like a USB drive.

Using a phone like a Treo that has the potential for removable storage like an SD card would be ideal for you. I use mine everyday for carrying documents, photos, and my MP3's so I don't have 10+ things in my pocket. Also the SD cards have really fallen in price...just bought one at walmart for $19 for 1 gb so fairly reasonable. The only issue is the cost of the phone...but I consider it an invaluable tool for my lifestyle.

i don't know of any cell phones that can be used as a USB flash drive. the phone itself has about 38mb of RAM and it's bundled with a 64MB memory stick, but this is probably for the camera and music function.

Yep I use mine all the time. I have a 1gig SD card and store all sorts of stuff on it. Oh, my phone is also running windows mobile, so it syncs with MS office, and connects like a regular removable drive.

Oh, the phone is refered to as a smart phone.
