If your dryer is turning, then it's not the belt. Most likely the heating element is gone or if it is a fairly new dryer, it could be the heating sensor. Neither one of the problems should cost you christmas, however, finding a technician to work on it immediately may be a problem. Good luck

forget the previous answers. Next time give more info - at least
the brand and if its gas or not. Open the door and hold your
finger on the door switch and start the dryer with nothing in it.
Watch inside for a couple of minutes and see if you see it getting
hot. If so then your ducts are clogged or crimped and if not then
check your circuit breakers if its electric. The motor will run with
one line ok, but needs two lines of 120V for the heating element.
if it checks ok
Its most likely a thermostat or thermofuse and is probably beyond
your ability to fix and you will have to call for service. There are
many things it could be. Gas parts defective if its gas, heating
element broken if its electric, timer and other things.

The first thing service personnel will do is clean the exhaust tube. Many times this will get clogged with lint and prevent the clothes from drying.
Try this first before calling a service man. Your problem may be a bit deeper since no hot air is being produced.

well there could be a few things....if the lint trap is clogged it will decrease the dryers heat...also most people dont know this but when you use dryer sheets it hurts your dryer....they have film over the top that seals in the fragrance until it is heated and what happends to way when its heat....thats right....it melts...sticking to the holes in the back of your dryer that allow the heat to dry your clothes....so when that film builds up it stops the dryer from heating and eventually can cause a fire......this did happend to me and mine started the same way yours did...i just found out after it was too late and the dryer in my new house was on fire in my utility room...luckly we got it out of the backdoor in time before the big bang..... you need to get a professional to clean yuor dryer or else buy a new one...goodluck i hope i helped

I just had my dryer go out last week and I can at least rule out the motor as your problem. When my dryer went out it stopped drying and it stunk like something had burnt up. Definitely had to call someone out (luckily i fell just under manufacturer warranty by 2 weeks, lol). Sorry, I couldn't tell you what your problem is but at least I can rule out one thing.

clogged exhaust is the most common, start there. Pull the unit away from the wall, take the hose off the back and see if it dries.

Some have a reset button for the heat, others have a fuse type part that needs replacement.

You need to find out if this is gas or electric. Include that in your next question and I'll be able to tell you your problem
