1. Early 1900's European migration (mostly Irish)
2. The "Baby Boom" of the mid-late 1940's
3. Late 1900's Hispanic migration

Ye, we need stricter control on US immigration policy. I have absolutely nothing against immigration. This is the greatest country to live and work in and hold nothing against anyone wanting to come here to pursue a better life. But there are laws outlining the proper way to do this for a reason. By continuing to turn a blind eye to illegal immigration (not only from Mexico/South America), most people feel we are leaving ourselves open to terrorists sneaking across undetected, which we are. But I feel the greater danger comes in the high probability of someone with a communicable disease coming across undetected and spreading it through the nation's population. If they follow proper procedure (also known as the LAW), this disease will be detected and that person not allowed entry.
By entering this country illegally, that person is already a criminal, whether their intentions are good or not. This country, great as it is, has enough trouble taking care of its legal citizenry without having to worry about taking care of those that do not care enough for our country to respect its laws.
