The state standards are a wonderful way to make sure students learn what they are supposed to learn. However, there is so much pressure on teachers to meet and surpass standards that that some children are being left behind.Everyday I see stressed-out teachers who have more concern about test scores than they have for their students.I work at a school that is a "California Distinguished School", is rated in the top 20% and the new principal thinks it's important to raise scores even higher.Teachers are "teaching to the test".Kids are given less chance to be critical thinkers.Last year I worked at a school that had recently adopted a new curriculum. It was so scripted and strict there wasn't any room to allow for individual learning styles or differences. This method kept teachers stressed out and some students frustrated.Students that aren't frustrated and learning at their own pace have a better and stronger relationship with the school.

a school is a home away from home .... when knowledge is rushed like the one way traffic( eg. form the teacher to the student), then the child feels separated . on the other hand if it is shared among themselves then the school life will be the most happiest life...
