Do you think the South and North are still fighting the Civil War, in an intellectual or physical sense. Why?

Please help me answer this question. I have to write a short answer about it in U.S. history and have no clue what to write about.

I don't believe so. Long gone are the days of Jefferson Davis and the Confederacy. I believe today the only time we are cursing another state in the union is when a car from another state cuts us off.

No, the Civil War was over long ago. The resulting dilemma of reconstruction and continued mistreatment of free men who were formerly slaves are side issues of civil rights and justice unserved were consequences, not a part of the war.

By and large the only problems between the North and South at this point in time is the perception of "invasion" of the south by people relocating from the north.

It's a free country -- and I try to look at us all as being the same. Still the friction of a 'yankee go home' mentality exists.

It's not so much a North - South thing, but there are still conflicts between big business controlled federal government and individual states rights, which was what the Civil War was all about in the first place.

Not at all. The civil war was many generations ago. Also people are more mobile. People move all the time and do not stay in one place. There may be pockets of it here and there but for the most part it is just history.

No. Maybe in the sense that there is still racism in the south. Some people in the south are very proud of their heritage. But other than that, not really.
