there is no magic number of pounds, it is different for everyone,
I raised animals while I was pregnant and lifted 50lb sacks of feed all the time, but since I was already used to doing this before I got pregnant it didn't hurt me. If you are already used to doing something before pregnancy, you can probably continue to do it.
I asked my doc about the sacks of feed, and he told me that when I felt uncomfortable doing it to stop. I had to know my body's limits to know when to stop. I never NEVER strained to pick anything up, if I could not pick it up easily then it was too heavy.

It depends upon each person, really. If you are at high-risk or have a condition, then I am sure your OBGYN will specifically tell you what you can and cannot do.

Now with me, I've never been given any specific instructions (I am not high-risk or anything) and when I asked early on, one doc in the practice said I couldnt' lift my 2 year old past 20 weeks. Another said no big deal unless I was having issues.

I am 33 weeks and lift my daughter who is probably 33-34 pounds with no issues.

That doesn't mean you should go and move a piano from room to room!! LOL :)

It really depends on how far along you are and if you are high risk or not. During my first trimester, I still worked out, lifted weights (though I stopped doing squats and lunges and kept to those exercises that supported my back) During my second trimester the doctor instructed no more than 25lb. I was high risk due to twins, so after 24 weeks I was told not to lift anything over 10lb.

Any uneccesary lifting should be avoided because it can bring strain on the uterus. If it is neccessary do not lift any thing over 2olbs. I am not a doctor but I would say this was a safe weight.

Everyone is different-depending on your age and how physically fit you are. You should ask your doctor about your pregnancy- you wouldn't want to have any problems. I do believe 10 pounds is safe- don't lift anything over 25pounds and do just call your doctor that is what they are there for and they are familiar with your individual situation.

first of all the weight isnt going to hurt the baby.if anything its going to hurt the mother by pulling a muscle of tendon.i pick up my 40 pound son all the time and my baby is fine.its just getting harder to do now cause im so big and it hurts my back.babys are so well protected that it takes alot to hurt them.its almost always the mom that pays the price!!
