An iPod is a brand of mp3 player. That is like asking what is the difference between a Camry and a car.

The only difference as far as I can tell between iPods and mp3 players is that iPods can play .aac files (Apple Audio Codec). They can play mp3s as well, but nothing else can play aacs.

an I Pod is a brand name mp3 player made by the Apple Co. It is like saying "I want a pair of jeans for Christmas" vs "I want a pair of Levi Brand jeans for Christmas".
