its an equation that wants the value of x.

in order to solve the question,you need to move all the x to one side of the equation and the number without any unknown to another side of the equation.

8x+4x+x=190+12-50+15+4

13x=171

x=171/13

thus, the value of x is 171/13 or 13.15 in decimal

Easy add like terms
then solve
8x+4x+x=190+12-50+15+4

13x=171

x=171/13

Simplify by combining like terms on each side.

- 4- 15 + 50= 31 on the left.
190 + 12 = 202 and -4x -x = -5x on the right.
So, 31 + 8x = 202 - 5x
Subtract 31 from both sides------8x = 171 - 5x
Add 5x to both sides --------13x=171
Divide both sides by 13---------x = 13.153+

How did people come up with the idea that 171 divided by 13 is 57??

Actually the only reason I answered was to tell you that you got one answer that was very disappointing to me.........Punch it into your calculator............That individual is in for a rude awakening when school days come to an end.

-4-15+50+8x = 190-4x+12-x
Step one...add/sub all the like terms (x's and non x's)

31 + 8x = 202 -5x

subtract 31 and add 5x to both sides

13x = 171

divide by 13

x = 171/13 = 57

You're looking for the value of
'x' .. so you separate the numbers you know from the letters you're trying to find, which in this case it's 'x'

so it goes..
8x+4x+x = 190+12+4+15-50
13x = 171
x = 171 / 13
x = 13.153846 (13.2)

=p if i got it right that's what it is....

its an algebra problem. its asking if the numbers before the equal sign are equal to the ones after. to find the answer find what x represents like for instance if it represents 5, just put in your calculator -4-15+50+8(5) and then 190-4(5)+12-(5) and see if they same result comes up.

(x+5)/(x+4) the element you're able to do right that's simplify the equations. element each and each of them: (x^2 + 8x + 12) = (x+6)(x+2) (x^2 + 4x - 12 ) = (x+6)(x-2) (x^2 + 6x + 8 ) = (x+4)(x+2) (x^2 + 3x - 10 ) = (x+5)(x-2) it works out fairly elementary from there.

-4-15+50+8x=190-4x+12-x
31+8x=178-3x
31-178= -8x-3x
-147= -11x

a) first you regroup letters on one side and numbers alone on the other:
8x+4x+x=190+12+4+15-50

b) next, you add on each side:
13x=171

c) finally you divide by 13:
x=13.15

Well, that means that:

8x+31=202-5x
13x=171
x=171/13

No idea what other can you be asking for :)
