My husband and I have been having a lot of problems with saying things when we are upset, and being sorry for them immediately. We have never made personal put-downs or anything like that. It is just assumptions and we are both insecure, apparently. I just want to say I am sorry for assuming that he was upset about us needing to spend $100.00 last night on coats for my daughters, when we are really pinching our pennies. He says he wasn’t upset about that, but he was upset at the way they (especially one of them) were acting. Anyway, the question is how to say "I'm sorry", because he doesn't respond well to that. A guy can send a girl roses, and all is better. I probably wouldn't send him roses anyway, but it is impossible, since he drives a truck all day. There would be no place to deliver them to. Can somebody (preferably a guy, I guess) give me any suggestions? Thank you so much!! I just want to say I’m sorry, and have things back to happy and normal. I am feeling so sad today, that it is hard to even concentrate on my work. I love him, and we have only been married for 5 months.

Here's something make a cd of his favorite songs or of love songs. Even if taking it off from cd's you already have that way you don't have to spend any money. This way it can travel with him and a part of you'll he'll always have. Make his favorite meal when he comes home and bake cookies he can take with on his road trip or make one of those fleece blankets that he can keep in his truck and with it you can write "may the warmth from our hearts burn strong and forever brighten our lives" . . i'm not sure but i know that would put a smile back on my hubby's face.
I hope this helps and wishing you the best life the marriage can bring. jl

Since you guys are pinching pennies and all, instead of flowers write him a letter, from the heart. Love letters are completely under-rated. Also try making him his favorite food or dessert (saves money too, cause he's going to eat anyways, might as well be something he likes)

Myself, I respond more to actions taken. Something sexual/submissive can do it for me. Get the kids a babysitter for a few hours when you both will be getting home, and put on a strip tease, or give him a bath, or do something to put him in control of the situation. Different couples will go to different extreems in this.

Just give him a real good BJ to completion. In a mans mind this is the ultimate form of acceptance. After he is "done" look him in the eye and tell him you love him.

He will be blown away...in a good way.

When he comes home give him a big hug and tell him how much you love him and that you are sorry for the things you said. The hug is very important.

This is more than a gift problem! You guys need therapy. this will continue to happen until you fix the root of the problem. There is something missing in you two that needs to be addressed!

Cook him his favorite meal OR take him out to his favorite restaurant--just the two of you. A little "hanky panky" afterwards would communicate something as well!!

Find a babysitter for your daughters, and give him an evening of real attention based on him.
