Personally I'm outraged by the fact that Florida beat out Michigan in a poll by a thousandth of a percent to go. Why can't they play each other for a spot in it? (Persoanlly I believe that Michigan should schedule Florida for their first game of the season next year to show who should've went) But why can't there be a playoff in 1A NCAA football? And please explain your system and reasoning.

8 teams and 7 bowl games as playoffs. You can take 6 conference champions; SEC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac, ACC, Big East and you allow 2 at large teams like a Boise St. for example.
You still have your bowl games, team rankings, and tradition.
Under this system every team should have a conference championship game at the end of the regular season. The two at large bids go to the highest ranked teams from lesser conferences or independent school like Notre Dame.
I would also make it a 10 game season with the conference champioship as an 11th game. A team that wins the title has only played 14 games .

Just like the NCAA Basketball playoffs you have the top rated teams from the differant conferances have a playoff. Big 12 vs. SEC... etc. and then just play until the final 2 are left. This could be done into January if needed. At the end crown the overall champion.

It really would be an easy system to do. Many say to include the top rated teams in the country... this could bring in discussion of having even a couple of wildcards that could be selected by national rank. The NFL doesn't let you play the Super Bowl just because you had a better record then another team in another division...why here.

Just my thoughts.

I don't have an answer to your question, but I think that Michigan and Florida should play a game right now to see who should be in the National Championship. There's like 4 weeks to go before that game that's plenty of time to see who should really be there. Good Question.

It is easy take the top 8 teams in the BCS and put them in the the bowl games and then add two weeks. 8 to 4 to 2. It is simple.

If you are number 9 in the BCS tough break but you didn't make it end of story.
