I've got a 1993 Astra 1.4 fuel injection model. All I want to know is should there be a dynamo warning light showing when you turn on the ignition. All that shows on mine is the oil light, the engine management light (that orange thing) and - if it's on - the handbrake light. I was just wondering if the engine management warning light does for the dynamo light as well.
Thanks.

There should be a red generator warning light; if the rest of your your electrics seem okay and the battery isn't going flat, it may just be the little bulb has gone.

The bulb should light up when the battery is not charging, so if your light is out when you turn the ignition on, there's a good chance the bulb has gone.

You'll soon tell if anything major is wrong as your lights will get dim and eventually the car will not start.

No you have a separate light a red one for the alternator you do not have a dynamo on the Astra. If its not working your alternator will not charge the bulb is part of the circuit.

generally there should be. have the alternator charging rate checked it could have a blown diode or something if its ok then it could be just a bulb in the instrument cluster
