I know its a strip club!!
I mean why is it a 'Gentlemans Club' rather than a strip joint!!
Is there a difference in the clientele, etc

A club for gentleman. A place where the richmen hang and chill to do their own thing. Drink, talk, play cards, and all that junk.

Stripclubs are not the same thing. Gentleman clubs have more "high end" strippers.

Generally, in the past, it referred to a social club in which men gathered - for instance, a club for those who were officers in a segment of the military, or who had gone to the same college. These clubs still exist today (such as the Yale Club) but generally have closed memberships.

It was not just a place to sit and read the paper, either; sometimes a person might be invited to give a speech or even lecture about an academic subject. Women were not allowed into these places; if Dr. E.G. London was invited to give a speech, and turned up as a female academic, she would be turned away.

With a gentleman's club today, in the US, it usually refers to a more upscale club with stripping. It may offer food or have more business related patrons (yes, it's true, sometimes businessmen actually take clients to see strippers in an attempt to "bond").
This word can be used interchangeably with "cabaret", although a cabaret traditionally refers to a small, intimate club with a singing or dancing act.

In earlier times a gentlemans club was just that, a club for gentlemen only where they could read, drink, eat, play snooker etc. usually used in the early evening before arriving home. Nowadays the term has a slightly different meaning????

There are about 20-30 gents clubs in London. Nothing to do with striptease at all. They are exclusive clubs where you pay a high yearly charge, membership is a long wait and you have to be recommended. No women. Large leather chairs, plenty of cigars, a dining room and rooms upstairs to spend the night. How the other half live, or sleep.

A Gentleman's Club is a club where you can find almost anyone but a gentleman. They are clubs where you go to watch strippers, oh excuse me, EXOTIC DANCERS, to what they do.
