I believe that the answer is yes, but there's no real proof yet.

Recent pictures taken by the rovers on Mars and the observation satellites around Mars indicate that there is liquid water there. If so, there is almost certainly microbial life. Also, experiments conducted by ESA indicate that lichens could live on Mars.

Additionally, Europa is covered with liquid water. So, it is very likely that microbial life is there also.

On the subject of sentient life, so far we've seen no verifiable evidence of other sentient species. That said, I believe with some certainty that somewhere in our galaxy at some past, present, or future time, a sentient species did/does/will exist.

Why haven't we heard from them?

Perhaps they are not technologically advanced enough to be heard. They may be mastering stone knives right now, or experiencing their own Rennaisance.

Perhaps they are here right now. Any species sufficiently advanced to travel interstellar distances would be able to hide or masquerade with ease. That Boeing 737 that just flew by may be a surveillance craft.

Perhaps they are so far away they will never notice us and vice versa.

Perhaps they existed a million years ago and died out.

Perhaps they will exist a million years from now.

It is really impossible to know for sure.

The Drake Equation suggests that there is sentient life out there. The Fermi Paradox casts doubt. Play around with the calculation form at the second link and see what you think.

probably, life originates because it's just basic chemistry. given time and the right conditions and you'll get life. the universe is so big and has some many stars and probably planets, earth cannot be a one off event. but don't expect anyone to come and visit us or call us up as intelligent life will be exceptionally rare. we've been listen to the sky for many years now and we've not heard a peep, not a single signal that could be artificial. the early efforts of inter-stellar would leave track marks blazed across the sky from their power sources and could be seen for thousands of light years, as far as i know we've not seen one. life, most probably yes, intelligent life, maybe but too far away in distance or time for us to ever worry about.

the universe is huge, ridiculously huge, think of the grains of sand on a beach, there are more stars in the sky than grains of sand on the beach. some of those stars have planets orbiting them. Yes, one of those planets is similar to Earth and has some form of lifeform on it. Definatly.
Will we ever get a chance to communicate with another lifeform? Probably not in this life time, again, the crazy hugeness of space would make communication difficult. The light from the closest galaxy takes 4 years to reach Earth. So if i said Hi to you from the Andromeda galaxy 3 years ago, you wouldnt know it for another year. Some galaxies are thousands, even millions, even billions of light years away.

Personally, I do think there are other life forms in other planets. Its just that we don't have the technology to detect them yet. Probably in bacterial form. By the way, Black holes do exists.

Even if the chances of life on other planets was one in a million, the Universe would still be teeming with life. Such is the vastness of it.

BTW, Black holes are very real.

The universe is larger than we can imagince or have began to discover. I think it would be selfish to think, we are the only form of life in it.

We don't know. Personally, I think there probably are, because as big as the universe is, it would be pretty strange if life only arose once. But there's really no credible evidence either way.

Has to be life " out there " someplace. Too vast an area to consider, which all the while increases likelihood there are other's.

Do you think we are the only ones here? Pretty strange that only on earth there are living things. Maybe we haven't seen them, but don't rule them out yet. Dun dun dun.
