This year I want to cook something other than the Traditional turkey dinner. Any ideas?

Last year we had a FULL Italian Christmas and we are Afro-American from Louisiana. It was wonderful! Everything from the "eve" night to the dessert on Christmas day was Italian. We started a new tradition...Every year we will choose a different culture to embrace.

Some friends of mine like to do a nice rib roast with a port reduction sauce. Roasted herb potatoes and a vegetable and salad.

I like to make goose when I'm not having that many people over. I like also to make a cucumber-cherry tomato-fresh dill salad, which looks very Christmas-y.

Winter is also a great season for shellfish, so you could do for example seared sea scallops, crab claws, or lobster tails.

Cornish game hens are always fun, you get the whole bird!

A few years ago we stopped doing a big formal Christmas dinner.

We now make something yummy in the crock pot...homemade soup or chili or something. We get all of our favorite snacks and have them all available all day.

People snack as they wish and we spend the day playing games and talking and fooling around with our Christmas presents.

By removing the huge burden of a full meal from this day we have gained a lot of great quality family time.

Why not try a Goose or a Duck or roast beef.
If you don't want to spend to much time in the kitchen
why not make a nice casserole with whatever meat or
vegetables that that you prefer.
Good cooking.

There isnt much meat on a goose, why not try Guinnea Fowl, from a specialist poultry dealer. I had it once and it was the best poultry Ive ever tasted.
