No you shouldn't feel bad. You're talking about a man, you should be surprised he said anything at all.
Usually men don't talk about things like that. They would usually take it for granted that you know how they feel by the things they do for you.
P.S: When did you tell him he was your greatest friend?

u shouldn't be mad u said u were friends at the end of the semester then u probably left for a little while and now your back to school so u have all them back.some people don't think before they speak.and if your really true friends u shouldn't be worried about it

I wont say you should feel bad i can understand how you felt but at least he did tell you, It' no big deal unless you have feeling's for him which I think you might by the way you reacted to him when he told you he is your friend. You might have wanted to hear him tell you he has feeling's for you. Am i right? Let me know.

Maybe he has trust issues and it takes him a long time to warm up to people. I would not take it personal, take it for what it is, he's your friend.
