Going rate would be $75.00 per 8 ft. if you have to supply the materials.

Layout and the setting of posts will require the most time. About 24 posts at least 24 inches deep with concrete by hand, with help, probably about 8 hours. Then the rest if ya work fast and know what you are doing with help another 8 to 16 hours.

This depends on location. I southern California for a 6' tall cedar board fence with wood 4x4 posts the rate is about $20/foot. If they want metal posts (like a chain link fence) I add $5 per post to cover the cost of the post and hardware.

First figure out how much the material would be, I am assuming that you don't do this for a living I would find out how much is charged normally for something like this..then cut in half for yourself to do it..but only the labor. I would also water protect it if it is a wood fence this will help ensure the fence.

First you call me so it gets done right !! Is it a regular fence with no kicker ? Does it need a topper ? Is it a good neighbor fence ? Is there an existing fence to demo and dump? Do you have a fence post digger ? No , I dont mean the day laborer from Home depot !! If you have at least that much info , it will help !! Have you priced Redwood fencing , lately / Its not cheap buddy !! You are looking at about , average 7 bucks a board for a 1" x 6" x 6' board which does not measure what it says , exept for the heighth. Figure out how many posts you need , ok I'll tell you at *' apart :20 4x4x8 foot pressure treated wood. 40 sacks of fence post mix , 2 per hole with the post 2 feet into the dirt, I gotta go now . Good luck home depot or lowes can tell you what you need if you give them the right info .

Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

A little more than you would charge a stranger. Because your brother will call you in about 10 years, and tell you his friend said the fence YOU built, fell down and he wants you to fix it.

Get a free estimate from a fence company and take it from there. You may want to give him a discount, especially if he helps you with the work.

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.
