Yes, i am aware of the fact that they are trying to make me quit as to avoid paying unemployment, what about the 2 week notice? will it really make a ifference at this point? I am a very good employee(only missed 1 day in over 6 months) my immeiate supp. just dosnt like me for no reason relating to job performance. It is strictly personal opinion. should I submit a 2 week notice even if I have another potential job,out of consideration? will it really make a difference either way?

It happened to me at a casino job...they were trying to get me to quit...They had someone else (manager's sister) in line for my job. They said I hadn't signed anything that said I would be fulltime so it didn't matter. I found a new job...it's better. Might be for you, too.

If they fire you without cause then you are eligible for unemployment and the employer is out of pocket. If they cut your hours to a point that you have to quit to look for another job they don't have to pay for your unemployment because it was a voluntary quit. They are just trying to get rid of you without firing you. You should take an honest look at your work habits and see what you might have done to provoke this. Are you a trouble maker at work? Are you difficult to get along with? Are you frequently late? Are you just a pain in the ***? Is your pesonality not a good "fit" with the rest of the employees? It is possible that none of the above applies and the employer just thinks you are not cut out for this type of work or they may have a work slow down, some of their contracts may not have been renewed. If they are still hiring full time employees but leaving you at 20 hours then it is probably one or some of the reasons stated above. There are many things that will make an employer try to get rid of an employee like this.

Don't think there is any law that can prevent an employer from doing that. If you have a union, check with them. Businesses usually do things like that when they want you to quit. They don't want to fire you for unemployment compensation reasons. Regardless, you do not want to work for a company that will do you that way. What else will they have in store for you if you let them get away with it. Try to find another job.

If you are under 18, you can only work so many hours...and only at certain times of the day usually. Like, you can't work a super long overnight shift. I think the limit is like 8 hours during normal working hours...or something like that. I'm not sure the exact rules, i'm sure you can google them for your state, cause it might vary by state. But yeah, it might be hard to earn that much in one summer with taxes and everything. You may have to extend that into fall.

They probably want you to quit...giving you subtle hints. If they fire you...you can collect unemployment from them or even possibly sue. They dont want that. By cutting your hours, they are trying to tell you something! Quit while you can..get a better job!

quit. usually an employer will cut your hours hoping you'll quit, because if they fire you, you can draw unemployment from them and no employer wants that.
