Your motherboard has a built-in sound card based on a 2-channel AC97 Audio Codec. If you need something more then that your motherboard has 2 open pci slots and any pci sound card available will work on that motherboard.

Your onboard will work fine, but if you want better sound and you don't feel like paying so much for an X-fi I would recommend something like a cheap audigy SE or live! 24 bit.

A slight bump up would be an Audigy 4 OEM here.

Either of those solutions will sound much better than 2 channel onboard AC97.

I think it depends on what kind of open slot you have on your motherboard. The type of slot will determine the type of soundcard that will fit. Once you work that out I think you will find you have a wide range of choices.
