no, not really. there's little bug that cats carry called toxoplasmosis which that can give you a nasty infection when you are pregnant. As long as you wash your hands after handling kitty, and wearing gloves when changing kitty's litter, you'll be fine. Chances are if you had cats long before you got pregnant, you've already had the bug, and are immune. But don't take chances. Just wash those hands well after handling your cat!

there is a disease very common in cats feces that normally doesnt harm humans, but will harm pregnant women. this disease is so misunderstood that ive actually had friends whos doctors told them to get rid of their cats immediately. its called toxoplasmosis. the truth about it: if youve been a cat owner for years, youve probably already contracted it and have formed a natural immunity. even though this is probably true, most experts say you should avoid changing the litterbox at all costs. if you absolutely must do it, cover your face with a bandanna, and use gloves. wash your hands well. cuddling with your cat is generally pretty safe, however, if your cat is like mine, it likes to sit on your chest and scoot its little butt towards you. dont allow this, and try not to pet it around its back end. ive had cats with both my pregnancys that slept with me, and i even tend to share my ice cream with them. lol. just keep in mind that its spread through feces and use common sense to avoid getting any of that on you. also wash your hands a bit more often than usual. hehehe, oh, and one thing about cats, when my baby would get super wiggly in the evenings, id set my kitty on my belly and pet her and rub all her favorite places. the sound of the kittys purring would calm the baby almost immediately, and to this day, she adores cats.

I believe that comes from the myth where they say if you sleep close to a cats face they will take your soul in your sleep. It's not true the only way it would be bad is if you are allergic to your cat, but if you are you really shouldn't have one to begin with.

No its not bad unless you are allergic or you are pregnant, the part of a cat you should avoid is its rear. Yes i'm not joking, cats are often contaminated with toxoplasmosis, and the parasite causing it is present in their faeces. Toxoplasmosis can cause a human being to lose his eyesight or it may affect the brain.. so take care, I would advise you to have your cat screened!

i've known people who were not originally allergic to cats but developed the allergy after having cats as pets. But i think this is pretty rare, and if you don't mind have to take some Benedryl every now and then... then cuddle up!!! i would!

no!!the only thing bad with cats when youre pregnant is their litter boxes.you shouldnt be cleaning them because it can cause you to get toxoplasmosis which can be harmful to the baby.other than that cuddle all you want!!

No. Cats just don't like to be stared at right in their face. It makes them nervous.
