You can use many different types of pesticides, a guard animal(a dog), and household items, such as ammonia, or bleach, or other toxic chemicals. Just make you take precautions! I would prefer if you tried the ammonia or pesticides first(they work the best) and make sure you dont use to much of the ammonia, or the right amount of the pesticide.

We usually have a raccoon problem. For the garbage we built a garbage bin, with a clasp on it so they cannot open it, it is built out of bricks, if wood make sure there is no openings. Keep your garage door closed. Raccoons are very territorial. Another thing that will work is we put outdoor speakers up and kept the radio on a talk show all nite for approx 4-6 weeks and that kept them away. They are very persistant. Good Luck.

They hate ammonia smell, very inexpensive pour it in the cans and along the doorway outside. ALso put a brick in the bottom of the can they can't tip it over. Worked very well for me.

One way would be to trap them in a no-kill trap and have your local animal control release them somewhere else.

If you want to keep those rascals on your property I would suggest putting out some food for them that is easier to get to than your garbage.
