The top fragrances at Saks (all of which I wear and loooove) are Prada, Narciso Rodriguez for women and Flower Bomb (Viktor and Rolf).

I'm also having love affairs with Rumeur (Lanvin) and The Scent of Peace (Bond No. 9 New York) which are my newest perfume buys.

If this is for yourself (or someone else!) you need to go to a store and smell them all - Sephora has a large selection of perfumes, although they don't carry more of the unique fragrances.

At Sephora they will be happy to create a few samples of the ones you like the best. *TIP* bring a small plastic baggie of coffee beans to clear your nose in b/w whiffs!

Then....go home. After showering spray one fragrance on yourself (ideally w/o putting on any scented body lotion). WEAR IT ALL DAY. Notice the top notes - what hits your nose first, and then the middle notes - what hits you second. After an hour perfume has reacted w/ your body's particular chemistry and that will be the "true" smell of that perfume on your body. The base notes are also easily noticed.

Ask a friend or two if they like the scent - do they think it "smells like you." I wear heavy perfume - nothing fruity unless it's balanced out by, say, deeper musks, bergamont, or vanilla. If I come into a room people can pretty much identify me by how I smell - and I choose to take this as a compliment!

So - repeat the "wearing it all day" process before you make a decision. Never go into a store and buy a perfume w/o wearing it around for a few hours first. You're better off spraying on each wrist and finishing shopping then going back after.

And remember - never rub your wrists together. This can break down the perfume and destroy its smell!

Happy perfume hunting!

I have never been one for heavy perfume so I always chose Victoria Secrets Vanilla Lace or Pear Glaze. I get tons of compliments all the time. They are light and smell so great. Its not that heavy scent that gets in your mouth either. Men love them and women actually have asked me what I was wearing to because they liked the smell. I wouldn't change them for anything. I use them with the body lotion, shower gels and soaps. Great stuff!

Right now, I love Juicy Couture. It's only at select department stores. Happy from Clinique is great for a fun, upbeat personality...it based on citrus. Another fruity one is Donna Karen's Delicious, which has an apple base. Body by Victoria is another of my favorites, which is only in Victoria's Secret stores. That's more floral and feminine. If she has an exotic flair, Cashmere is nice and so is Glow by JLo.

It depends on her taste, thats why there is so many different ones out there. You can get her a sample box with quite a few different ones in it. I use Obsession.

that is really tough because everybody had different tastes in perfume. i like something that is not overpowering (i get migraines)

burberry brit is great
i also like diesel for women

but generally i go for body sprays from bath and body works and such because they are not as strong.
