I had a very happy childhood up until the age of 8 when my mother passed away from breast cancer. This left a huge hole in my life that will never be filled, an emptiness that cannot be explained. Then when I was 12 my father decided to remarry & uprooted us & we had to move to a completely different area, my brother & I lost our home, our school, our friends, the closeness of our family & once again a huge hole was left in our lives. Through my teens, I went off the rails, probably because my grief had caught up with me as I had blocked it out as a child. At 18 I had to see a psychologist as I was suffering from panic attacks. Then I discovered spiritualists & true friends. I am now 27, have been in a loving relationship for the past 4 years, am expecting our first child in June 2007 & am very happy. After having someone so close taken away from me like that, I appreciate life & family & friends. We all have our highs & our lows but I have found an inner strength I never knew existed & this has enriched my life. And I always think 'what about those who are starving in Africa' or the soldiers who are fighting a war, people with terminal illness & then I always count myself lucky. There is always someone worse off than ourselves.

where do i start? i am chinese, was born in 1981 and i am the eldest of four kids as i have 2 brothers and 1 sister, i live with my parents who are so judgemental and criticise me for even the little things, i am expected to graduate from university next year at 26, i am studying media and journalism, left school at 16 with no qualifcations, i met some great people along the way as well as some rather nasty and horrible ones, for me what makes life worth living is having to keep going and keep thinking positively and not let things and other people stand in your way, you have plenty of haters out there who intend to grind you down but the important thing is to take no notice of it and to keep working hard. its about doing it for them its about doing it for yourself. as far as i see it, they do not bear any significance on your life or what they say and do have no bearing on you or the events that occur ion your life. my life has been full of ups and downs up to this point- though its more of the latter. i've suffered, i've put up with all sorts of crap but at the same time there were a few happy memories. these are what you want to remember for the remainder of your lives, rather than the ugly and bad stuff take took place. they say you live and learn- more like you learn and live.
