I am trying to stick this snake thing down the sink and it is a little frustrating. How many more turns do I have to go to? I am stuck on turn number 3 right now.

Every model of house is different. You should already be past every normal turn. Could it just be packed with cooking grease? Generally, if a small snake isn't working, you just need a bigger one. A 100 ft snake should take you to the main sewer line to the street. Anything more is gonna require digging.

you must have an awfully special, customized sink system. Usually the sink pipe travles down to what's called a trap. It's shped like a backwards "J." Then the pipe should travel into the wall when the pipe is eventually connected to the main line of your water supply. With that many turns, you probably are going to be prone to have blockage! As long as your snake wire continues to move along, I'd just keep fishing it

Good luck

All sinks are supposed to have a "goose neck drain". It should go downward from the bottom of the sink, a half-circle should turn it up and go directly into another half circle directing it back down. This actually helps prevent clogs from forming further down in your drain system. The goose neck can easily be unscrewed and taken off(put a pan underneath if you do this). Most times the clog can be shaken out off the goose neck. If the clog is further down in your drainage system then a snake is neccesary. The number of turns there after are hard to determine. They should all be either 90deg. or 45deg. turns and there will be however many neccesary needed to link all of the drains in the house to the main septic drain.

you don't need a snake for the kitchen sink. It is plugged with a combination of grease and gunk. Boil a gallon of water and pour it down the sink (be sure to put the drain together first)

plumbing should basically have 3 maximum turns after the trap -one after passing the wall- 0ne at ground level and then it is possible for another one to turn around the house. it all depend on your house though.
