Are they worth it?

I graduated from an online university w/ my Bachelors, and I make 47k now, STARTING OUT at a big corporation. I am only 23, I have a house, a new car, and a promising career. It was 100% online and accreditated, and I graduated in 2 years.

I think people are suckers now to go to school 100% in class. Even big universities have online programs. Usually they are hybrid - some online, some in class.

All you have to do is call the Dept of Eduation to see if a school is accreditated. And I got federal aid.

I think employers are starting to see them as very valuable. Not only are you up with the latest technology, but you show you can work independently, are very self-motivated, and dedicated to completing tasks. Something they would look for in a candidate. It worked for me!

You owe it to yourself to read this article form the Online University Consortium: http://www.onlineuc.net/warning.html

Here is a bit of what they have to say…

“The University of Phoenix is very adept at spinning the accreditation story. Like all universities, they do have regional accreditation. However, they haven't been able to secure program/professional accreditation. And all of the best business degree programs now carry both regional and professional accreditation from an accrediting body that's been approved by the Department of Education.”

“Aside from accreditation, your biggest concern should be how employers view degree education and where it comes from. Employer organizations are beginning to "just say no" to graduates of for-profit education businesses. Two examples prove this trend. First, there's a recruitment software company, owned by the Washington Post, called BrassRing that has publicly stated that companies are now searching for candidates and specifically eliminating certain schools from their employee search. BrassRing is able to track this trend because several large corporations they work with on recruitment are excluding graduates of for-profit schools in their hiring search criteria.”

Good luck!

UOP is extra helpful suited for persons who're already employed. I stay in Phoenix, I attended their floor campus(not on line). Of the 15 professors I had in simple terms 3 weren't so sturdy. I had some impressive professors with lot of authentic international experience, and team individuals with whom i grow to be waiting to debate business enterprise difficulty's per their artwork experience. Drawbacks of UOP may well be one million) They enable all people who's keen to pay to connect, so which you will possibly be able to correctly be paired with idiots in a getting to understand team. 2) in case you're taking over line training, i don't comprehend how plenty own interest you will get..
