The hundred of millions of pounds they bring into the country far outweigh the sum they cost for upkeep. That's a business decision for the country.

Conversely, they provide a value link to a country's past, a national idenity, as well as another layer of political balance between the powers that be.

Although not actually known, except by little tidbits that seep out in bios, the monarchs influence on the leadership of the government of the day may have direct influence on the welfare of the people. Contempt prior to investigation; however, we'll have to wait many years to know the influence of the present monarch, which might be considerable.

Of course, the House of Windsor should be abolished and let the House of Stewart return to their rightful place on the throne and at the same time abolish the Prime Minister and let the Royal House do it's job as it was supposed to be with Parliament. With Parliament being under the Royal House. So that The King/ Queen would be like our president except for the fact that it is a hereditary placement and not elected. Or better yet ABOLISH PARLIAMENT.

If England dumped the royal family they would lose half their tourist trade. If nothing else all the royal stuff is unique to anywhere else in the world. Everything costs money and if you got rid of them you would be fighting over who deserves what; it would be pardon the expression ' a royal mess'.

I can understand how someone would think this way, but the Royals bring a LOT of money into the UK via tourism. They no longer have any real political control of the country anyway - its more for show than anything else. And the gossip about them keeps a lot of tabloid press people in tea and crumpets!

i'm no longer British, and that's as much as the British human beings to settle on whether or no longer they decide for to maintain their monarchy. besides the shown fact that, i do no longer see the factor of being "obsessed" with them. The employer of monarchy is interesting, it serves some clever purposes, that's relaxing to video exhibit it -- yet "obsession"? that's going extremely far. people who experience the monarchy might desire to be abolished believe that it relatively is an high priced anachronism in recent times and merchandise, no longer unreasonably, to inherited and unearned place and privilege. they have a factor. you will possibly take a check out the region below with the intention to get a feeling of their perspectives on the priority. besides the shown fact that, relax basic. the popular public of the Brits believe you. they decide for the monarchy to stay, a minimum of on the instant. Edit: Daniel W, interior the U. S., the regulation actual demands the President to pay for his very own costs along with his very own money. That even incorporates the food that he and his kinfolk consume interior the White homestead different than at State dinners, each and all the clothing they placed on, the vacations they take to places different than Camp David, their baby's college costs, commute costs different than those of the President himself (it relatively is, for his kinfolk), etc. etc. etc.

No ! They are a great tourist attraction. Without Them there wouldn't need to be the changing of the guards--the best show in London.

If you don't like the Royal Family and the millions that they bring into this country every year, then I suggest you go and live in a republic...there are plenty of them in this world.

Long live the Queen!

I think keeping traditions is a good way in preserving cultures of different nations. If we will get rid of them, then England will be no different to other countries in the world...
