if i have severe sleep apnea and diabetes, will insurance pay for bariatric surgery? and if i do and it leaves lots of extra skin, will insurance pay for removing that as well?

It's hard to get insurance companies to pay. If you go to the obesity help website they have some tips. I gave up getting insurance to pay, I went through 2 different companies and got denied because although I am super-morbid obese I have no co-morbidities.
As far as the plastic surgery goes, there are supposedly ways to get insurance to pay, but you have to plan ahead. A friend of mine's doctor didn't remove her gallbladder during her weight loss surgery (many doctors automatically do; mine would have) so that later on he could take it out and do her tummy tuck at the same time.

Yes, your insurance will pay for the first surgery is you are over 100 pounds over weight. No, they won't pay for removing your skin. You are out of luck there. BUT....The Shriner's Burn Center is Ohio will do it if you donate your skin to them. hmmmmmm
