Take Motrin or Midol for pain and swelling.
I also suggest to use sea salt soaks to help with the sore feeling and speed up healing. Also, switch to using liquid Dial (or another non colored, non scented antibacterial or antimicrobial soap)

Clean your ears twice daily and the overall sore feeling should go away in 2-4 weeks and sleeping on one side of the other will be easier to do after about 8-12 weeks or longer depending on when your body starts to heal. After that there will be some pain if you sleep on one side too much or get hit, but it shouldn't be too bad.

definite they do. Claire's is barely allowed to pierce the "outer ear"-the lobe and cartilage-not the tragus or something like that. whether, they use the Gun and that's not cautioned for the cartilage-it may shatter the bone, inflicting grotesque bumps to style. this is extra helpful to your well-being (much less probability of an infection) to pass to a professional at a tattoo parlor, they use a hollow scientific needle, which additionally hurts below the gun.

Don't pay attention to the first girl or guy, but usually it takes 6 to 8 weeks. If it starts getting more irritated it could be an allergic reaction or an infection and u should tell the doctor.Make sure you are not actually removing the studs, this could be the reason why. That is how long it took for mine to heal an that is what the doctor and piercer said.

Cartilage piercings take 2-3 months...although from my experience 6-12 months was needed for mine as I'm a slow healer. Use this for reference...towards the bottom it has the recommended time for all piercings. http://community.hottopic.com/services/bodyjewelry_faq.asp?LS=0&
To Tots above...6-8 weeks is for the earlobes and a few other things, not cartilage. Your upper ear is made of cartilage, not fat.

I guess the answer would be when they properly heal.....I had my left ear cartilage pierced a couple of months ago and at first it was giving me a lot of trouble....The thing is....you just cant mess with it....if you touch it then it starts hurting again...so the best thing you can do is just forget they are even there...lol.....just make sure that they dont get really infected because that can be a problem.....well....enjoy your peircings = )

It takes a long time...people heal differently.
But why do you have hoops in them hun? It should definitely be barbells(curved/straight) or post earrings for the cleaning to be easier and it helps in healing because there isn't a lot of movement. I have 18 piercings in my ears :)

ah... that was quite brave of you to get them both done at the same time. you're probably looking at 6-8 weeks depending on how your body heals. i do hope you got them pierced with a needle and not a gun.
they may bother you occasionally after they're healed when you sleep on them.

a week, maybe two if youre a slow healer. dont use alcohol, peroxide, or neosporin on them. if theyre acting infected, use bacitracin zinc, its the only thing that doesnt promote the closure of a wound. (closure of a peircing means scarring, in cartilage peircings, this is not good.)
