I have DSL thru Bellsouth. I have a Compaq desktop computer with a wireless card in it. I am using the standard Westell 2200 Router that Bellsouth gave to me. My desktop is the one hooked up to the internet thru my Westell 2200 Router. I am trying to use this computer to access the internet from my laptop's built in wireless card. I have tried the Wireless Network Wizard on my computer to make one, but it never seems to work. Can someone help me??

Take the Wireless card out of the Desktop since it's connected to the router, The go into the routers configuration and assign Static addressing to each computer. EXample: 192.168.1.1 Desktop, then 192.168.1.2 for the laptop.

Hi there. First of all Westell 2200Router isn't actually a (wireless) router.(

majority of thr outers have antennas sticking out of them, You dont need a A+ certified to tell you this you are smart .)

They call it a router because it enables the user to turn the dsl modem on and off at the desired times.

Also prior to this the models made by westell needed a software to control the modem. Now its all built in to the modems/router. What you need to do is buy a linksys wireless router and Hook it up.

The dsl modem you have is white with three 3 lights in the front, a black on/off switch in the back and probably came with a stand.(some usually do). You don't have to get the linksys , you can get any wireless router and hook it up. but since you asked this question

I personally recommend the linksys. if you are looking for a budget router go with the WRT54G. if you can invest about 20-30 dollars more i would def. recommend the WRT54GS with the latest speed booster tehnology

I hope u find this very useful

that router does not have wireless built-in. you'll need to either upgrade to a wireless router, get a third party router (linksys, belkin, netgear, etc.) or plugin a wireless bridge adapter via usb or ethernet.
