I put one in a house (2 and 1/2 ton heat pump) and had duct work ran through the basement and vent's in the floor. It was about $6,000 (i live in TN). Also check with your local electric or gas company. They work with alot of installers and can give you alot of information. Some even offer great financing plans or discounts. Good luck!

I put one in an old house in California about 2 years ago. I bought a Janitrol Goodman forced air fas furnace (just as good as the big brand names if not better) and had it delivered. Then I called around for quotes for the installation which varied from $6,000 to $4,000. This was a relatively simple installation which was done in the attic space of a single story 1100 sf house (2 bed 1 bath LR and Kitchen). California (SF Bay Area) labor rates are very high and you may be able to have the labor done at half the price...but be sure to get a good heating and sheet metal contractor to install it.

If you can wait until the warm weather arrives you'll get better service and a better quote...typically these guys are busy in the cold months.
Hope that helps.

It's going to depend on what your situation requires. I replaced mine two (2) years ago with a 97+ efficent unit. With a two (2) ton A/C unit, humidifier, and air purity system. On a 1,200 s/f home, 1.5 stories, cost was $4372.94 including taxes. My duct work was large enough to handle the upgraded system.
Call around locally, or check websites.

if you are replacing a heater it will be quite a bit cheaper (the old duct work will be ok) about $2000.
