Grand Geneva resort in Wisconsin. It's a ski lodge/resort right off of Lake Geneva, only about 1.5 hours from Chicago.

Its not really a road trip, but there is a Sybaris somewhere in the Chicago area. That would be very special and romantic, plus you wouldnt have to drive too far just in case the weather got nasty. You know how unpredictable these Chicago winters can be.

Sybaris is in Glenview I believe.

Galena.....2-1/2 hours from Chicago up i-90. Chestnut Mountain Inn....good prices, skiing, indoor pool. We used to go with my family every year for about 7 years. As an adult, I love it just as much. Good food in Galena, and shopping. Chestnut is just outside of town. Google it and check it out.

Utica and Starved Rock are also good.

Port Wasington, WI is a nice town on the lake. The Holiday Inn there overlooks the water, and they have hot tub suites too. Very quaint town....looks like New England, but it's really Wisconsin! It's not far from Racine and Cedarburg, WI. Cedarburg ahs a winery, and lots of cute shops if she is into that sort of thing.

Being a Florida interior sight, i ought to assert are available October. It gained't miserably warm as generic, and also you may want to nonetheless get to appreciate some warmth climate. when you're literally not into topic parks and decide some thing slightly more advantageous scenic, beachy, and sit back paced, look at St. Augustine. The downtown section has a lot history to appreciate, and also you've were given the beaches for some relax and "actual Florida" relaxing. I like it as hostile to Orlando. also, you're an hour faraway from Daytona, this is nice besides. St. Augustine is only an all round large kinfolk spot, i imagine you'll truly like it. there's a lot of large inns and eateries, and that is really elementary to get round. both way, wish I helped and enjoy your vacation!

why would this guy above me say six flags? they are closed and even if they were open, who would be dumb enough to be riding rollercoasters when its like 20 degrees out.

anyhow, best place is to head up to the Wisconsin Dells and get a room at the Kalahari Resort. They have a really good indoor waterpark and highly suggest dinner at the kahunaville which is in the resort. theres also a movie theatre right there and a casino right down the street so theres plenty to do

have fun!
