hi, I'm concerned about some of these answers ; not that they are bad, just that there's more to it. Humans are complex, life is unpredictable, and even when we think we know what we need (or want), we may not be 100% right. ...I have friends who have used the "rhythm method" with great success. I have, also. Yes, every now & then one miscalucluates, but ANY form of birth control has risks. You need to weigh the benefits & risks of each situation.
Coils & IUDs may not prevent pregnancy; they may only prevent implantation: in other words, the fertilized egg isn't allowed to attach to the uterus. Condoms are helpful, but sometimes leak. (I got pregnant with my first child when we were using condoms every time.) "The Pill" can cause havoc with a woman's hormones, affecting her mental health. Tubal ligation is 100% efective but also does have an effect on hormones & monthly cycles. I say all these things from bitter experience.
.....Not all tubals can be reversed. My surgeon didn't "just tie a knot in them" -- he actually REMOVED a section of each, then cauterized them ! 18 months later when I longed for another child, I couldn't have one. It took 10 years to get past that regret & find acceptance. I'm not the only one to have regrets; trust me: don't make the decision until you've considered it for a year. ...one more thought: vasectomy (for the male) is linked to some later health problems, also. To me, it appears that we should mess as little as possible with nature. Do plenty of research, and don't rush. Permanent decisions should never be made lightly.

Depends on the age of the woman. If you're young than the doctors may limit your choices, they may not allow a tubal ligation yet. But that is your best bet if your older than i think 25 or 30.
Also an IUD is pretty affective and is good for 5 to 10 years (depending on which kind you get).
But if you're looking to no meds what so ever than i would say learn your ovulation time and study it good to be sure you have no sex during those few days. There are plenty of procedures that can determine ovulation and talk to your doctor, they can help determine it also.

If she wants to stop getting pregnant then she has to do something about it. Either No sex at all. Have her tubes tied or get on some form of birth control. Calculation will not work very well. Sperm can live inside a woman for up to 5 days and unless she uses an ovulation predictor every day, she isn't going to know when she'd ovulating.

You know I worry about that. Not so much now because I am only 28 and have 2 children if another were to come along around now it would not be soooo bad. But I worry about when I am like 45, how about if I get pregnant, I don't believe in abortion. What does a woman do in that situation, I guess I have to be extra careful and remember my pill very accurately or I'll be a mommy again at 45 or 50!

I agree with most of the comments. The best way to stop having children is to not have sex. Since that may be impossible, having the tubes tied may be your next best option. Condoms are good, but are definitely not 100%. If you're married, you can always have your husband have a vasectomy.

That's not foolproof. Tubal ligation is your best bet.
Medications, rhythm methods, condoms, etc. are all iffy. Even tubals fail once in a great while, but it's rarer than Christina Aguilera calling me and telling me "Bill I gotta have you."
Okay, it's more common than that.
Abstinence in the sole foolproof way to avoid kids. Tubals would be the next best thing.

That sounds like a surefire way to have another child. Get the tubal ligation if you don't want to take the pill. Trust me, you cannot calculate your cycle accurately enough to fend off your husband if he's really in the mood. Good luck.

The only ways to stop getting pregnant without medication are to stop having sex or to get surgiacal sterilization (tubes tied).

I am only 24 as of next month, and I've had my share of having kids!
I would recommend getting her tubes tied! You can have them un-tied at any time if you were to want to have another child in the future!
