The Acadians were deported to the Louisiana area after the French lost to the British in warfare. Having all these people of capture the British decided to make them give their loyalty to the British Crown hoping to unify the political atmosphere. The Acadians refused and it was not because of any loyalties to a crown. But because they were Catholic and the British Crown was the head of a protestant church. The Anglican church. This is the reason the Acadians refused to swear an oath to the British Crown.
It was religious not political. If the British Crown was still Catholic then the Acadians would not have had a problem with pledging an allegiance to Britain rather than the French Crown. It wouldn't have bothered them at all.
Changing their religion would have.
Not having the sworn fealty of the Acadians the British then proceeded to rid themselves of a perceived threat. The Acadians ended up in land that would become the Untited States of America when the Louisianna purchase was made.

The Grand Upheaval, or "le Grand Dérangement," occured between 1755 and 1763. It was ordered by the Nova Scotia Council and British Governor Charles Lawrence in order to ethnically cleanse Acadia of its French-speaking inhabitants. When the Acadians refused to renew their oath of loyalty to the British crown, they were forced by the thousands to board ships to be deported to the American British colonies, Louisiana, France, and even the Falkland Islands.
