Of all the celestial objects, the moon is the second brightest (as seen from the Earth). Only the Sun appears brighter. So, as long as the moon is far enough away from the Sun in it's apparent journey through space as we see it and as long as the Sun is low enough in the sky so as not to totally wash out the moon with its vastly greater brightness, the moon is often visible during the "day".
The same is true of planets. Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn can be seen during the day under similar conditions.

For a simple real life application, have your friend hold a flashlight, and you can hold a stuffed animal (or for best effects, hold a ball) in a dark room. Your friend is the sun, you are the earth, and your stuffed animal is the moon.
If you are standing facing your friend (or mostly facing toward), it is the same as if it were daytime. You can see the stuffed animal if two conditions apply: 1) the stuffed animal is somewhere in your line of vision (i.e. it is not behind you), and 2) there is light shining on it. The moon is the same way.
In talking about the real moon, because the earth is so large, your "line of vision" is much smaller. Thus, while you may not be able to see it on one particular day during the daytime, if you call a friend in another country, they may be able to see it because it is within your line of vision.
Some other fun stuff: If you put your stuffed animal so that it is blocking the flashlight, that is the equivalent of a solar eclipse (where the sun is blocked out by the moon). If you face sideways, and you put your stuffed animal out in front of you, you will notice that only half of the stuffed animal is lit up, while the other half is dark. That's why most of the time, the moon doesn't appear whole.

I liked suspendor's answer.
I will add: because it is above the horizon.
Seems trivial but:
For example, at Full Moon, the Moon is exactly opposite the Sun. Therefore, it rises when the sun sets and sets when the sun rises. The full moon is rarely visible in the daytime sky. (It is less rare in high-latitude regions). Too bad, because that is when it is at its brightest -- would be easy to see despite the brightness of the daytime sky.
At first quarter, the Moon rises at noon and is in the eastern sky before sunset. So it is possible to see it in the afternoon, but most of us are too busy to look for it.
Last quarter (this week), the Moon rises near midnight and it is high in the sky at sunrise. For those of us who get up early, it is always a special sight to see the Moon still in the sky when we are on our way to school or work.
The crescent Moon (very early or very late in the monthly cycle) is too close to the Sun. I sometimes catch a glimpse of it in daylight but it is in a very bright area of sky and, being "smaller", it is less bright -- more difficult to see.

hi, fellow maximum cancers female. I had an on back off back courting with an Aquarius that lasted for the extra suitable element of ten years. they're maddening to appreciate to declare the least, and many times supply blended indicators, etc. they're flirty, and relaxing whilst they decide for to be and could be extremely soft and severe, and then POOF they're thoroughly aloof and chilly and you're left thinking what got here approximately. as far as your particular concern is going, it relatively is complicated with the help of the shown fact that this guy is your boss. Ever heard the expression "do no longer sh!t the place you consume?" certainly, you mustn't be having romances interior the artwork place. Already you may locate how disruptive that's many times, when you consider which you will possibly desire to determine this guy each and on a daily basis in spite of what is going on between you. i might err on the element of that maximum cancers warning and definitely in basic terms get on without him. He does look to have a soft interest, yet he's no longer providing you with something concrete to bypass on. i does not possibility the rejection or humiliation, because of artwork ingredient of all of it. Aquarius adult men are tricky to pin down, and it does not appear like a perpetually romance is coming up...extra of a interest. i might the two watch for a tell tale gesture from him, or get on with life without him. that's in basic terms no longer well worth putting your heart on your sleeve, all issues seen. i'm hoping this helped. Aquarius adult men are very interesting to Cancers because of fact we experience there could be lots happening below the exterior. regrettably, there's no longer lots there...what you spot is definitely what you get with those adult men and you will possibly desire to take them at face value.

The moon is illuminated by the sun, and is much brighter than starlight. So when its orbit brings it over the dayside, it's bright enough to be seen over the blue scattering that lights the sky.

Because the moon is out from behind the earth and receives direct sunlight, thus allowing it to be seen
