My parents split up awhile back, and my dad moved to west texas. My mom has been looking for a roommate, and i asked a few of my older friends. One of my friends of 3 years,male,21, asked if my mom would consider letting him move in for 300 a month. My mom said she would think about it,but asked me to look up a renters contract online. Has anyone been through this, what were some problems you faced etc.
Also we both are kinda queesy about letting a male move in considering i have a 2 yr old daughter, but considering i've known him for 3 years we went to school together and work together we trust him. Also he said he would help around the house etc.

Could you please give some advice.

Just make a contract that states the consequences if the rents not paid, and have them leave a months worth of rent as a down payment.

Couple of things. You can get a great renters contract at Office Depot or online. Make sure you get his social security number and drivers license and pay the extra money to get a back ground check through the local law enforcement. You will need his SSN to collect any money owed if he skips out on you. Many serial killers and rapists have used the room mate scam to get into peoples houses so please make sure you do the back ground check and check some of his references.
