This is my third pregnancy. My first one was my daughter she was born at 37 weeks (induced) and weighed 8lbs 3 oz. My son was also born at 37 weeks (induced) and weighed 8 lbs 10 oz. However my son got stuck twice his head got stuck and his shoulders got stuck too, he had a shoulder displacement, and they almost had to rush me in to the OR for an emergency c-section but luckily they got him unstuck. What would be my chances of having to have a c-section this time?

The chances would be 50/50 that you would have a c-section.

You've had larger babies in the past so the chance that you'll have a large baby this time is pretty high. You may end up having a c-section if this baby is as large as the previous. There are other things that can tell you if this baby is going to be big. If you're an overweight mom then there's a higher chance your baby will be big. ALso if you have gestational diabetes there's a chance your baby will be bigger. I just found out I'm pregnant and I'm concerned about the same issues you are. So, good luck to you no matter what happens.

There's a lot you can do to avoid a c-section. In your case with a history of shoulder dystocia, the biggest thing I can recommend is to squat for the delivery. It opens the pelvis wider. Yes, I realize that means no epidural. And I've done an induction (which it sounds like you might end up with if you've had two before and big babies at 37 weeks) with no pain medication at all. It's doable. Is it possible you have gestational diabetes? I'm wondering with your babies being so big. Or maybe you passed the gestational diabetes test but just barely? If so you, try to control your blood sugar. Avoid sweets and white stuff (white bread, etc) if you don't want your babies to get so big. And try not to gain too much weight.

My first son had a big fat head that would not come out. He was taken by c-section after 5 1/2 hours of straight pushing. Luckily it wasn't an emergency as his heartbeat never wavered. My second one was a scheduled c-section because they said most likely the more children I had, the bigger they would be. During my second section they had to cut me bigger than they did my first.

Good luck. I am assuming you don't want to have a c-section so I hope you don't have to. Let me assure you that it isn't as scary as some people say. Good luck and happy birthing.

i could say which you will go into labour certainly interior the subsequent 7-10days. If after that ingredient you haven't any longer then an induction could be executed. the possibility of a c-area is going up with any scientific intervention like induction so i could attempt and avert it altogether if i ought to. it is likewise in lots of circumstances a harder labour in case you have an induction so wait each week and attempt for a organic spontaneous first. i've got had the two and that i will inform you a spontaneous labour is lots much less confusing than an induction! additionally attempt having intercourse and letting the semen soften your cervix first. dangle in there! it is going to happen quickly and you'd be protecting your bubs in the previous you already are conscious of it. stable luck

As long as baby is fine during the delivery, there's no need. My cousin just had her first baby on the 4th. She had planned for natural birth, but had to have a c-section done because the baby had the cord wrapped around his neck and couldnt breathe well. Im not saying that to scare you, just stating that it has to be done in cases like that. Hopefully everything goes well with you and your baby. Best of wishes! ^_^

It could very well have been from the position he was in or the position you were pushing in. Be sure to insist on having freedom of movement in labor and choosing your own pushing position. Squatting is a great position as it opens your pelvis up wider.

What happened with your other kids has no bearing on this pregnancy. You have just as much chance of having a c-section as everyone else.
