Blatant racism, how nice!
"Natural ability" has almost nothing to do with how well people dance. It's almost all a matter of training and practice, which may be quite informal (especially as regards street dances) or quite formal, with coaches, etc.
I'm not a big fan, but it seems to me that in ballet, the great male dancers have been mostly white. The same in ballroom. Salsa seems to have a lot of Hispanic dancers. So maybe it's cultural, and who's trying what.
Just a guess, but maybe what you're seeing is a mixture of black guys who've been dancing a good deal, and a bunch of white guys who haven't, at least in the genre of dance that you're talking about.

that is a bit of a steriotype :-) but i think it is something to do with there original culture take the aboriganies par example had nothing better to do because unlike the white people who were richer and had more technology they were always playing music etc, although i must say not all black men can dance and most white men can dance but i no what you mean.also black men tend to be poorer and so they made up street dancing you know and reggie etc

I think it's a culture thing- I'm not particularly familiar with the black culture (yeah, I'm white...) but in the area where I was raised (90% white), music was mostly about worship- singing. Yeah there were school dances, but someone's moves weren't what it was all about.

My perception of the black culture (which I'm sure is pretty warped by lack of exposure)- it seems there's more emphasis on physical abilities- athletics, dance, etc.

Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Wayne Sleep, Mikael Baryshnikov, Danny Kaye, Rudolph Nuryev, Donald O'Connor, 'Strictly Ballroom', 'Dirty Dancing' ringing any bells! Congratulations! You too have been stereotyped!

Really? I didn't know that. I know Latinos dance better than both group. Of course, they act sleazier on the floor as well....

By the way, no one really know what Michael Jackson is now. Is he black or white? We will never know.... (well, did he dance better when he was black? or when he became white? I wonder)

That's just a stereotype, but I'd say it has something to do with culture and such. I'm not quite sure myself, but I know plenty of white guys that can dance.
I suppose they have a better sense of rhythm or something... I've always wondered this myself, actually.

what a load of tosh, white men can certainly dance.I have just seen a musical in my home town and there were some bloody excellent male dancers in that, and I mean serious dancing.Black or white,it doesn't;t matter. If the interest is there and they have rhythm, and talent, skin colour doesn't even come into it

That's only a sterotype like all black men can rap, and no white men can.

Well firstly that's a racist comment!

Secondly I made a very good career as a dancer for over 15 years before I retired and I am as white as they come!
