when they get thirsty. A hawk can go without drinking water all summer long in temperatures over 110 degrees because it gets it fluids from the blood and fluids from they're pray but will drink water if given the opportunity and have it near by. same with most desert dwellers. Something to remember is most lizards are nocturnal or will hide when people are a round.

Not necessarily. All living beings need water. That doesn't mean they all drink it. Some desert animals have adapted so well that they can live their entire lives without drinking a single drop. As for lizards, they probably don't need to drink much, but they'll drink when they're thirsty.

Lizards generally do not drink water, because their physiology is adapted for low water availability. Hence they can manage with hardly any water to drink. Insects are also like that.

I've never seen one drinking water either, but then again I'm not fond of reptiles and rarely get close enough to observe them.
