i work ina nursery, and around this time of year they are starting to get a little more hyper than usual. i asked my tutur about this and she told me itsw because of the moon being so low in the sky. and then she went on about the dark days and stuff (i live in scotland, UK) so i was just wondering how everyones mood changes because of the moon?

well, it would be more a question of where the moon is, not it's phase.=) I beleive the closer it is the more it's gravitational influence affects the hormones in the body. Like the young lady said- "pulling it to your brain!"

In general, it does not (studies have been done to try and prove that there was a link).

However, the Moon does have an indirect influence on our lives, and that indirect influence could affect our mood.

One example is that the Full Moon gives us more light at night, giving our ancestors more opportunity to do things outside. Nowadays, this effect is not noticeable in major cities which are flooded with artificial lighting.

The Moon affects the time and height of tides. This may affect the time of day at which fishermen have to leave home for work. I know that my mood is affected by the time at which I must get up in the morning.

However, many of the studies that were conducted dealt with activity in hospitals and in nurseries. They tried to show a link between periods of increased or peculiar activities (these periods do exist) and the phases of the Moon (which definitely do exist). But the link between them does not seem to exist, statistically.

For many amateur astronomers, Full Moon is a time when less observing is done (the Moon's light hinders observations), so they fell more frustrated AND get more sleep (talk about mixed moods).

It's not the moon. There are no documented effects of the phase of the moon changing people's actions; it's an urban legend. However, Scotland is getting very little light at this time of the year, and seasonal mood disorders ARE well documented. That's more likely to be what's going on.

There have been many, many studies does around the world to try and find evidence that the moon effects our moods. The results show they DO NOT..However there have been studies done about how the sunshine effects us and our moods..When you have plenty of sunshine you tend to be happier and the reason seems to be sunshine produces serotonin in our bodies and thus makes us happier..And if you work with younger children the lack of sun light may play a roll in their behavior..

our mood changes depending on the situation.

my friend once told me not to look at the moon for too long coz it will make me crazy because of some fluid in our head being pulled by the moon's gravity. Let me tell u this, if the moon can't even keep an astronout on it's surface, how can it have any effects on us?

All is energy here, in a world comprised of matter, energy, space, and time. All are inexorably tied such that one influences the other; hence, the weft and warp of water, magnetic pull, energy and so on, of which the human body is an amalgam and quite susceptible to the influences of these four properties of nature.

The theory is that we are all tied into mother earth. It has to do with the moons position as well as to the magnetic field it pulls on the earth. The tied in the ocean swell ,Air pressure increases, and our chemistry with in our own bodies tries to balance this.Because this is a changing state we tend to notice it more then not.
This is a simplified answer.

As far as I know it doesn't--unless you count the female cycle.

The seasons, however, do affect our moods. When it's winter and there's very little sunlight, people tend to get depressed more easily. They tend to be happier and more energetic in the summer.

Your class is probably just hyper because of Christmas.

Its due to the gravity of the moon acting on earth.
You will see high tides rise in ocean just because of this effect.
